Defend the Weelaunee Forest is a print inspired by the Black and Indigenous resistance to the police training facility, colloquially known as “Cop City” in Atlanta, Georgia
This forest houses old growth oak trees, desert tortoises, white tailed deer, rabbits, foxes, frogs, egrets, sandhill cranes, marbled salamanders, snakes, beavers, otters, dragonflies, and butterflies. These lives, along with the people of Atlanta, depend upon the thriving forest to offer green space, quiet the city noise, and flood prevention. This is an image of what we lose if Cop City continues to be built.
